Since its inception, NOTaS has been active as an effective lobby organisation. By combining the powers of its members, the NOTaS has been able to act as a representative of universities and companies in the communication with national and European bodies and governmental institutions.  NOTaS members play an active role in national and European organizations, such as:

  • STEVIN, a Dutch-Flemish program for creating essential pre-requisites for Language and Speech for the Dutch language.
  • ELRA, the European institute for language resources and its evaluation
  • CLARIN-EU, the European initiative to create a research and development infrastructure of language resources and language technologies, for example for the Humanities.
  • CLARIN-NL, the Dutch branch of CLARIN
  • ISO, the International Standards Organisation, for the definition of standards for semantic annotation in language resources
